"Lishai is a literary gem and inspiring role model for youth. Her infectious personality and "real approach" enables young people to show their truth and speak their mind. She is truly a unique and gifted talent"

 - Renata Arquilla

Teacher, Toronto District School Board

Lishai facilitates spoken word/poetry writing and performance workshops with youth in schools throughout Toronto and has also worked with schools in Halifax, NS and Calgary, AB. Although she primarily works with youth, she has also facilitated writing/performance workshops for adults at corporate leadership events, through cultural institutions and conferences and at universities. Lishai utilizes arts based practices in her workshops, with a focus on confidence building and excavation of personal stories.

Lishai has designed and implemented youth creative leadership programs with The City of Toronto and worked in the capacity of a youth spoken word mentor with The Toronto District School Board. With generous funding from York Univerity, Lishai is the co-founder of Ink Veins; a group dedicated to mentoring young women in their pursuit of writing. She was also a program coordinator for two years with Unity Charity, where she designed a 6 week leadership program for youth and coordinated a group called Uniffect, consisting of 20 young poets and emcees. "Each one, teach one" is the motto she upholds when carrying out a program, so the young people she mentored while coordinating Uniffect and Ink Veins are now themselves mentoring their younger peers.
